Robert Sundström is an Industrial PhD Student at University West, collaborating with Swerim AB. His research focuses on hydrogen embrittlement of additively manufactured super alloys used in rocket engines.
Additive manufacturing (AM) is being developed for use in rocket engine components where hydrogen is used as a propellant. In this presentation, we will take a look at why AM is relevant for space applications, how hydrogen affects material integrity and how metals can be tested experimentally in hydrogen environments.
In addition to the Rymdforum conference from May 4th to 6th, the entire week will be filled with space-themed activities, lectures, music and entertainment for both residents and visitors. This Space Week will in many ways enhance both Trollhättan and Sweden’s standing in this field.
